One of the nice things that’s happened throughout the various lockdowns is that many uke groups and performers have set up regular online strumalongs and workshops, which are open to people wherever they are round the world.
The latest to get in touch with us has been Gregory Gent from Ukulele Gent:
Hi. If any of your uke friends are looking for a fun play-along, we do one every Wednesday at 7pm Eastern Standard Time (midnight GMT). We bring in guest teachers/performers, use percussion on some songs, teach new strums, and always have the chords/lyrics scrolling on the screen.
Each show is recorded and also uploaded to YouTube. We’ve had some really great guests (ie Victoria Vox, Stu Fuchs, Lil’ Rev), so people can go back and watch the tips and tricks from the guests as well.
Feel free to pass this information on.

At the time of writing, I see their guests next Wed (13th Jan) are The Naked Waiters, whom I’ve seen live a couple of times. They are lively performers and certainly worth watching!

Hi Catherine,
You need to go to the Ukulele Gent Facebook page to see their events coming up. If you look in the Events section tab & they should all be there together: https://www.facebook.com/ukulelegent/events
Currently there are three Upcoming Events advertised:
Against each you should see the date & time (in your time zone) of when the session is. And hopefully a button to click to say if you wish to attend or not (if you click that, Facebook should send you an email reminder when the session is due to start – you don’t have to click it to attend the session).
So find the 1/12/2021 session & click against that (the date is back-to-front as it’s a US page).
(The old events from previous weeks are just below there under Past Events if you want to watch them)
At the time of the event, if you’ve had an email from Facebook, all you need do is click the link in there. If you don’t receive an email, go back to the main Ukulele Gent page https://www.facebook.com/ukulelegent/ & there should be a post for the live event that’s happening in real time – click to start the video playing & you should be fine.
If you’re still unsure what to do, your best bet is to ask Ukulele Gent directly on their main page https://www.facebook.com/ukulelegent as it’s their jamming session, not ours & they know how it all works.
