With all the social distancing measures at present, lots of uke tutors are starting to hold live lessons & strumalongs to keep folk strumming together. Here’s the latest from Brad Bordessa (from

🎵March MADNESS ʻUkulele Camp (Free Live Lessons All Week!)

With events and schools closing all over the world to combat the spread of COVID-19, we all need some fun things to do to fill the time.
Here’s my contribution: I’m going to kick off a week of free live ʻukulele lessons and Q&As this Monday through Friday at 10am HST (1pm PST/4pm EST/8pm GMT)!
Each day I’m going to dedicate the first half of an hour to teaching the basics of the ʻukulele and how to play some simple, hip songs (great for kids!). Each day we’ll build on and practice what we learned earlier in the week.
After each lesson, I’ll open the chat up to Q&As and we can talk story about uke stuff and address specific questions about playing technique for another half hour.
To tune in, just navigate to the first scheduled live stream (linked below) and click “set reminder” or mark your calendar for Monday at 10am HST (1pm PST/4pm EST/8pm GMT).

If you miss any of the live streams, just go to my Youtube channel to watch the replay and find the next live video (they’re all at different urls) –

Another free interactive uke session that might be happening weekly – Danno from Play It Daily ( – see his Facebook group for details of future sessions & how to join them: or email for more details.

I attended Danno’s Online Ukulele Talent Show on Sat, which was great fun!

    From Danno:
“…It’s like a meeting without the meeting!

We’ve done this a few times in the past, but never with such a good reason as we have now! Since we’re stuck at home and disallowed by law to meet in person, let’s make the best of it.
It’s the ONLINE Ukulele Talent Show! Bring your uke and sing us a song — or just sit in and enjoy.
Show us a song you’re working on, or one that you love. Keep it short and know that you’re among friends, so no need to be shy…”

Here’s another source of live uke lessons from AllForUke, with Q&As if you”re able to attend the live streaming premiere – new lesson every Tues:

Quarantined? Spend MORE time with your ukulele!
My uncle always told me “The great thing about playing an acoustic instrument is that even when the power goes out, you can still play.” That statement couldn’t be more true with the situation we’re facing around the world currently. As a performing musician and teacher that depends on public gathering, I have lost my means of income for a while, but being the optimistic fellow I am, I’m going to spend more time with my wife and baby Grant, write more music, play more ukulele and create more tutorials for all of you. Let’s make the best of this time and play even more ukulele together! I’ll be doing a lot more LIVE STREAMING these next few weeks too so follow @allforuke on Instagram and Youtube.
Here’s Day 2 of How To Choose Strumming Patterns for Songs where we’ll look at songs in the 3/4 time signature. Join me for the Live Premiere and Q+A on Youtube 17 Mar at 4:30pm CST / 9:30pm GMT. As always, I can’t thank you enough for sending love – Kevin 🙂

Not specifically ukulele, but there are a number of musicians appearing as the confirmed bookings come in, including Grace Petrie & John Hegley. Robin Ince & friends are arranfging the sessions of comedy, science, books & more under their Cosmic Shambles podcasts pages:

It is stating the obvious to say that strange days have got a hell of a lot stranger with many people facing confusion and anxiety during this COVID-19 pandemic. Artists have nowhere to play and audiences have nowhere to go to to be distracted. Venues are having to close, gigs are having to be cancelled and festivals abandoned. And so we, at The Cosmic Shambles Network, proudly present The Stay at Home Festival.

We will be live streaming pretty much every day, sometimes twice a day, some of our top podcasts like Book Shambles and Science Shambles as well as presenting mixed bill comedy nights and conversations all without anyone leaving their home.

Robin Ince | Josie Long | Professor Brian Cox | Jo Brand | Chris Hadfield | Mark Gatiss | Nikesh Shukla | Sara Pascoe | Natalie Haynes | Helen Czerski | Stewart Lee | Bec Hill | Russell Kane | David McAlmont | John Luke Roberts | Mark Watson | Stephen Merchant | Miranda Lowe | Grace Petrie | Dean Burnett | George Egg |

A new Ukulele Challenge site has been in touch with us. I’ve given the website URL, as I know not everyone uses Facebook:

    Your Ukulele Challenge
    to webmaster.PLUC

    Hi fellow Ukulele enthusiast,

I got my first Ukulele just before Christmas, joined two Ukulele groups and now Boris has put all that on hold. As I’m retired anyway, self-isolation isn’t too bad. Except the wife, who usually works, is now at home more and curious about what I do with all my time!!

So, I have a plan. I’ve told her that I have to administer a facebook group for Ukulele players from all over the world, problem is, I didn’t have one. But I do now. “Your Ukulele Challenge”

A bit of fun, I’ve set a number of Ukulele challenges. Please help me out and have ago, pass this on to your Ukulele mates and maybe, just maybe peace will prevail in the Harris/Lynch household for a bit longer.

I got your contact details from the internet.

Also, check out the website at:

    Kind regards,

Latest event from World of Ukes – a mini uke festival. It. Includes performances, strumalongs, a workshop, raffle with Kala KA-SEME prize, interactive chat with other participants and you can even buy a souvenir T-shirt. It’s recorded, so you can watch it afterwards too:

Wireless Ukulele Festival, Fri 17 April 2020

This week Andy Webster and Matt Warnes have announced the details for their first Wireless Ukulele Festival – a collection of live performances from UK ukulele artists, recorded in their own homes. This is introduced by Andy as compère, and interspersed by an included workshop from me and a couple of big strum and singalong sessions. There’s a raffle with a nice uke from Kala on offer and a festival programme and songbook. As close as they can get to a ukulele festival that can be attended safely!

The festival, which is between 3 and 3.5 hours long (depending on the final edit!) is being premiered on Friday the 17th of April at 7.30pm. You can watch live at that time and join in the live chat with other festival-goers, or you can watch later at any point (or both – it is a private video link, which you’ll have access to to watch again at any time).

With exclusive performances for the Wireless Ukulele Festival, they have Dani & Liam, one half of the Mersey Belles and Beaus, intricate fingerpicker Mike Haysom, lightning fast strummer Andy Eastwood, entertaining husband and wife team The Hedge Inspectors and the fantastic Phil Doleman.

They’ll also kick things off with a couple of numbers from The League of Ukulele Gentlemen, from a set recorded just prior to social distancing rules, there’s a workshop from Matt Warnes on exploring further up the neck, and compère duties and a Big Strum and Singalong from Andy Webster.

There’s a ticket price of £12, which will be distributed equally between the participants, to make up a little of the cost of cancelled performances over the spring and summer.

You can find more details and book a place in the events store:
